NWS Volunteer Alliance garners Gold Award in the Second Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award
The corporate volunteer team of NWS Holdings Limited ("NWS"), NWS Volunteer Alliance received Gold Award in Outstanding Volunteer Team category in the SecondHong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award for its diverse voluntary service and commitment in promoting corporate social responsibility at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Since its establishment in 2001, NWS Volunteer Alliance has held a wide variety of voluntary services which have succeeded in establishing long lasting relationships between volunteers and beneficiaries based on mutual trust and values. The services include Stand by You Mentorship Programme which helps youth-at-risk to build up their self-confidence; Fairy Mentorship Programme which allows mentors to pass on their caring spirits to the little mentees. Instead of celebrating its listing anniversary with a cocktail party, NWS organizes NWS Caring Day to perform community services to care for the underprivileged.
To mark the 10th anniversary of NWS Volunteer Alliance, NWS introduced various 10th anniversary awards and NWS Holdings Charities Foundation made a special donation of HK$100,000 in support the work of a charitable organization selected by the volunteers themselves. In addition, NWS made a matching donation of HK$20 for each hour served by the volunteers under NWS Volunteer Alliance Award Programme, which will in turn benefit more people in need.
NWS Volunteer Alliance had nearly 2,000 registered volunteers and accumulated more than 80,000 service hours. The volunteer team has set up the haircutting team, clown team, balloons modeling team and Chinese dancing team to serve the community with different skills. The NWS Volunteer Alliance members, Chin Tak Ming and his family, were also awarded the Best Family Volunteer Award by the Social Welfare Department earlier.
NWS garnered the Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award for its second year. Being part of the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Programme organized by Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, the Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award recognizes the efforts of corporations made in fulfilling corporate social responsibility.
