New World China Land Won the Honorable "China Low-Carbon Model Enterprise"
New World China Land Limited ("NWCL") won the "China Low-carbon Model Enterprise" and the honorable title of "2010-2011 China Low-carbon Model Enterprise" launched and hosted by The Economic Observer, a nationwide commercial media institution, and China Economy Research Institute. Following the success of winning "The Best Low-carbon Enterprise Lohas Award" presented by the Institute last year, NWCL won the recognition again with its unremitting efforts. NWCL was the only Hong Kong enterprise among the 12 winners including local and multi-national corporations.
The panel of judge agreed that NWCL committed itself to exploring and promoting the industry to implement green and low-carbon with concrete actions, while integrating the low-carbon life idea into community events and spreading to the society. NWCL conducted the environmental protection renovation on its own project in the commercial buildings in Wuhan in strict compliance with requirements of the standard of LEED Gold Award, thus reducing the energy consumption of the project by 20%. In addition, NWCL is committed to supporting the promotion and implementation of such environmental protection projects as Earth Hour in its communities. NWCL takes an initiative to fulfill its social responsibilities to the environment, and to explore the latest enterprise environmental measures, and will gradually develop itself into a "Low-Carbon Enterprise of Sustainable Development".
Though NWCL was not the first large-sized real estate company implementing green low-carbon responsibility, it has stressed fine work on such aspects as project design, corporate operation, and community building, etc as soon as it started to implement the green roadmap, and regarded it as an important opportunity for the NWCL's development. In addition, NWCL has built-up the long-term environmental protection mechanism, established the Environmental Protection Committee within NWCL which was constituted by the management of every subsidiary, and also set up Green Office Committee and special emission reduction group responsible for the preparation of corporate environmental objectives and policies, and for supervising the implementation of such tactics and policies. Therefore, the low-carbon environmental protection has been integrated into the core strategy of the corporate development and will be carried out without compromise.
As an authoritative low-carbon enterprise assessment activity in Mainland China, this assessment is based on the comprehensive effects of low-carbon projects of enterprises from a full array of indexes, including low-carbon strategy, low-carbon environment, competitive advantages, fulfillment of responsibilities, standard design, and public awareness, etc. which enjoys wide credibility in the industry and media. The activity aims to seek the model in shaping a responsible enterprise for "Low-carbon Times" and provide a benchmark and reference for Chinese enterprises to march toward low-carbon times.
