Inspirational Sharing from Hong Kong Swimming Record Keepers at New World Springboard Inter-District Swimming Championships

New World Development Company Limited (the “Group”; Stock Code: 17.HK) held the 1st New World Springboard Inter-District Swimming Championships in the beginning of May at Tung Chung Swimming Pool where over one hundred participants from New World Swimming Academy, a sustainable community program under New World Springboard, demonstrated their swimming skills in the event. The Group also invited Chan Kin Lok and Wong Chun Yan, two Hong Kong swimming record keepers to perform swimming demonstration and to share their invaluable experience from their swimming journey with the students.

 

Swimmer Strive for the Spirit of Indomitability

Over 120 students from three districts, namely Tung Chung, Shamshuipo and Tuen Mun, participated in 32 individual races. The swimming championships provide a chance for the students to compete with each other, and to showcase their achievements from the training of the past two years. Particularly, they learned the spirit of adversity quotient and indomitability through the competition, which is in line with the vision of New World Springboard programme. Executive Director and Joint General Manager of the Group, Mr. Gary Chen, Executive Committee Members of Hong Kong Amateur of Swimming Association, Mr. Ng Yuk Kwong and Mr. Lee Chi Kwong presented at the event and cheered for the students. More than 150 parents and a group of mentors formed cheerleading squads to spice up the ambience. Eventually the Overall Championship went to Tung Chung District.

In addition to the exciting competition, the little swimmers had the chance to meet two sought-after Hong Kong swimming record keepers, Chan Kin Lok and Wong Chun Yan, where they gave a swimming demonstration and shared their invaluable experience from their swimming journey. The two elites motivated the participants to set their own personal goals and to stay perseverance when facing challenges.
