Promoting A Low-Carbon Lifestyle And A Bicycle-Friendly City Enrollment for New World Cycling Charity Championship 2013 starts on 27 August 2013
With New World Development Company Limited ("New World Development"; stock code: 17.HK) as the title sponsor, Total Sports Limited ("Total Sports") and the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals ("TWGHs") as co-organisers, the second New World Cycling Charity Championship 2013 ("NWCCC 2013") will be held on 3 November 2013 (Sunday) in Sha Tin. With the support of Sha Tin District Council and TWGHs as the Championship's charity beneficiary, NWCCC 2013 will be the first major cycling competition to be held after the 12th National Games of the People's Republic of China. The organizer is proud to announce this year's Event Ambassadors are Daniel Lee, Tang Wang Yip, Leung Chun Wing and Kwok Ho Ting.
Riding on the success and favorable response from participants last year, the annual NWCCC 2013 will take place again at the scenic Shing Mun Riverside and downtown Shatin. The route of the racetrack, which begins and ends at the Yuen Wo Road Playground, consists of Tai Chung Kiu Road, Banyan Bridge, Yuen Wo Road and Shatin Rural Committee Road.
Comprised of 13 categories including Elite Male and Elite Female, Charitable Corporate and Celebrity, Students and Family teams grouped within the "Elite" and "TWGHs Charity" sections, this year's championship is expected to attract over 1,000 top professional cyclists from Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region along with cycling enthusiasts from the general public. Championship prizes totaled more than HK$200,000 in value, with all proceeds received from the charity section donated directly to TWGHs.
NWCCC 2013 strives to share the joy of cycling, for professionals as well as the public, and promotes bicycle as a popular and environmentally-friendly mode of transportation. In addition, the organizer will put together a bazaar filled with game booths and children's play area, making it the perfect weekend event for both race participants and their families.
