New World Development Company Limited ("NWD" or "the Group", Hong Kong stock code: 17) and China Youth Leaders Foundation ("CYLF") joined hands with Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation ("YAF") to launch an exhibition project namely "People Power In A New World" Youth Arts Exhibition today. Around 5,000 students from 50 secondary and primary schools have participated in the exhibition. Through creating their artworks, students are able to develop their creativity and foster their care to society. 

Mr Adrian Cheng, Executive Director of NWD and Chairman of CYLF, Ms Lindsey McAlister, Founder of YAF and Mr Dick van der Tak, Executive Director of Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong hosted the opening ceremony. 

Dedicated to the nurture of young people, NWD and CYLF have initiated the project of "People Power In A New World" Youth Art Exhibition by bringing CYLF, NWD, YAF and MSF together for the first time. The project has provided an opportunity for students to create and exhibit their artworks in a public space while at the same time, learn more about the life-saving effort of MSF, an international medical humanitarian organization. 

Mr Adrian Cheng, Executive Director of NWD and Chairman of CYLF remarked, "To create artworks, we need to have an insatiable curiosity about the world around us. Young people always like to bring arts into daily life and they always bring us big surprise! 'People Power In A New World' is a creative combination of "youth arts" and "civic education". Young people can decorate the figures with their creativity, while they can also learn to care about people in need around the world. As a member of the society and an enthusiast about art, I am always keen on contributing to youth arts training and social development." 

Ms Lindsey McAlister, Founder of YAF said, "We would like to express our gratitude to NWD and CYLF for fully supporting this project. Young people are full of imagination, which has been reflected in their artworks. Students decorated their figures with the themes of transcending borders and the life-saving effort of MSF, showing their care to the people in need in a creative and interesting way." 

5,000 brightly coloured 9 inch human figures created by students will be displayed at New World Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui from 30 April to 12 May 2008, from 11:00am to 7:30pm daily. Visitors are also welcome to give an onsite donation and decorate their own figures.
