73 Outstanding Mainland Students Receives Training in Hong Kong
New World Development Company Limited ("NWD", "New World Group" or "The Group", Hong Kong stock code: 17) is committed to nurturing young talents and promoting cross-cultural exchanges between the Mainland and Hong Kong. Recently the Group has fully supported the "New Youth New World" Mainland Students Internship Programme ("the Programme") by offering one-month training to 73 outstanding Mainland students, providing them with opportunity to experience the life and culture of Hong Kong.
Following the success of last year, New World Group co-organized the second "New Youth New World" Mainland Students Internship Programme with All-China Youth Federation, Hong Kong United Youth Association and Hong Kong Volunteers Association in August 2011. 73 Mainland students coming from different provinces, cities and autonomous regions are offered with the opportunity to learn the development and culture of Hong Kong through the training provided by various renowned corporations. A total of 16 large corporations, including New World Group and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company Limtied, ("CTF"), provide training to these students for four weeks.
The Group has extended a greater support to the Programme this year by offering 17 training positions in its nine subsidiaries and CTF, being the corporation providing the largest number of training positions. Apart from on-the-job training which equips them with invaluable working experience, the Group has arranged visits to its various projects for the trainees, including K11 Art Mall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, The Masterpiece, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui and the Avenue of Stars. Through the training and visits, students can have a comprehensive understanding of the Group's businesses while broadening their horizon and network at the same time.
The organizers will also arrange the students to various visit and exchange activities, including paying visits to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, various HKSAR Government Bureaus and Departments, media organizations, etc. Sharing session with the tertiary students in Hong Kong will also be arranged. Through these activities, the Mainland students can understand more about various aspects and the livelihood of Hong Kong.
