New World Springboard Students Meet Jeremy Lin at His Training Camp in Beijing
As a token of appreciation for eight students of New World Basketball League with outstanding performance, New World Springboard, the sustainable community programme of New World Development Company Limited (the "Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK), organised A Journey of Dreams, a three-day summer trip to Beijing where they met Jeremy Lin, who encouraged them to follow their basketball dreams. Lin was the officiating guest of the kick off ceremony of New World Springboard last year.
The students got the chance to meet NBA superstar Jeremy Lin, who officiated at the opening ceremony of New World Springboard. During their meeting with Lin, students got to see his training session with students from Beijing and their friendly match. The students were elated to meet their idol and seized the opportunity to talk to Lin, who exchanged learning experiences with them and encouraged them to strive for their dreams.
To broaden their horizon and to help them acquire more knowledge, the trip also featured visits to K11 Eco Home and a number of Beijing's landmarks. Accompanied by their parents, these eight students visited New World Group's K11 Eco Home where they learnt the latest trends in environmental protection. They also visited The Great Wall of China and Beijing National Stadium and Beijing National Aquatics Center, the massive sports venues famed for hosting Beijing Olympics in 2008. On the culinary front, they savoured local delights such as roast duck and dumplings. This trip allowed students to learn beyond the campus and expand their horizon and encouraged them to strive for the goals and reach higher, echoing the objective of New World Springboard.
New World Springboard aims at encouraging under-resourced youths and improving their social mobility by providing them with at least five years of free professional training. Besides sports training, New World Springboard also focuses on the holistic development of the students. To this end, the Group has been recruiting staff as mentors who help the students develop a positive outlook on life. For details of New World Springboard please visit www.nwspringboard.com.hk.
