New World Mathematics Awards 2013 Nurtures More Young Chinese Mathematics Talents
Established by New World Development Company Limited ("the Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK) and world-renowned Chinese mathematician Professor Yau Shing-Tung, New World Mathematics Awards ("NWMA") is held for the third time. At the signing ceremony held today it was announced that the award presentation ceremony of New World Mathematics Awards 2013, which honours award-winning young Chinese mathematics students from around the world, will be held at Grand Hotel in Taipei on 14 July 2013.
Professor Yau Shing-Tung, Chair of International Committees of NWMA, said, "Chinese mathematics students around the globe have expressed keen interests in NWMA by preparing high-quality theses for submission. Topics of the theses include pure or applied mathematics, probability and statistics, biomathematics, etc. In the past two NWMA presentation ceremonies, over 50 Chinese mathematical students were awarded. The awarded students have been going on to achieve even more in the field through years of hard work. I hope that this year's winners can follow the examples of these mathematical leaders in the world and continue to promote the development of Chinese mathematicians and achieve tremendous success."

With an aim to reward Chinese mathematics students for their diligence, NWMA was first initiated and established by Dr Henry Cheng, Chairman and Executive Director of New World Development Company Limited and Professor Yau Shing-Tung in 2007. Funded by New World Group and China Young Leaders Foundation, NWMA encourages Chinese mathematics students to pursuit academic excellence and promotes academic exchanges. With International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians as chair organiser and Tsinghua University and Taida Institute for Mathematical Sciences as co-organisers, the award ceremony of New World Mathematics Awards 2013 will be held in Taipei on 14 July 2013. NWMA has been embraced by Chinese mathematics students around the world since its establishment. Submission from the past two awards were all of a high standard and previous winners are from world-renowned universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
