New World Group Raises the Highest Amount for "MSF Day"
New World Development Company Limited ("NWD", "New World Group" or "the Group", Hong Kong stock code: 17) and its subsidiaries participated in "MSF Day 2009" this year and have raised a total donation amount of HK$480,000, becoming the corporation raising the highest amount and this is also the third time for New World Group receiving such accolade in addition to its participation in 2006 and 2007.
This year, New World Group continued to participate in "MSF Day 2009" and encouraged its staff to donate one day of their salary to the event, just as volunteering for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)'s worldwide medical aid work for one day. With the earnest support of the staff, New World Group has raised HK$480,000 this year, in which HK$300,000 came from New World Department Store China Limited ("NWDS", Hong Kong Stock Code: 825). New World Group has become the corporation with highest amount of donation, recognizing its generous support to the society.
Mr Adrian Cheng Chi-Kong, Executive Director of New World Group said, "New World Group appreciates the worldwide medical aid work of MSF and therefore, the Group is committed to supporting MSF Day since 2006. It is encouraging that this year, New World Group again becomes the corporation that contributed the highest amount of donation among all the participating corporations and government departments, showing our long-term support to MSF's medical aid work, and proving that, our staff, as well as the Group, are committed to support the people in need in the society."
New World Group is committed to contributing to the society. The Group has participated in "MSF Day" since 2006 and was the corporation that contributed the highest amount of donations in 2006 and 2007. Besides, the Group especially supported the meaningful initiatives at MSF and provided free airtime on multi-media on-board platform of New World First Bus and Citybus for "MSF Day 2009", as well as raised fund for MSF at the "People Power in A New World" Youth Arts Project organized by the Group last year, aiming at arousing awareness of MSF's worldwide life-saving effort among general public.
