New World Group launches New World Springboard NBA Star Jeremy Lin makes debut appearance in Hong Kong to officiate at the inaugural ceremony
Lin to share success story with Hong Kong's youth
New World Development Company Limited ("New World Group", "the Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK) is pleased to announce that it will launch a new community programme, the New World Springboard, to help young people cultivate a spirit of perseverance to pursue their dreams through participation in sports.
For the programme's launch, New World Group has invited NBA superstar Mr Jeremy Lin to make his debut appearance in Hong Kong and share his amazing story of success with Hong Kong's youth.
The launch event of New World Springboard, which is entitled 'A Journey of LINmagination @ K11', will take place at K11 on 24 August 2012. New World Group has invited students from under-resourced families and young basketball lovers to join the celebration. At the event, Lin will share how his dream became reality as he found success in pursuing a career as a NBA player. The students will hear how Lin's dream was made possible by his belief in himself and his determination to overcome challenges. New World Group hopes that Lin's story will inspire and encourage young people in Hong Kong to shoot for the stars and achieve their goals.
New World Springboard will be funded by New World Group Charity Foundation which has been set up by New World Group to support child and youth development, promote sports and foster the development of art and culture in Hong Kong.
New World Group is an active supporter of youth development and in particular underprivileged youth in Hong Kong. The Group has recently sponsored and co-organised the 'New World Swimming Academy' which offers underprivileged children free professional coaching. The Group supports employment of underprivileged youth in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai as eco-tour guides for the 'New World ECOASIS Series - Kam Pok Eco Tour'. The 'New Youth New World' summer internship programme and the 'New World Navigator Business Mentorship Programme' have been launched with a view to broadening the horizon of university students and strengthening their business acumen.
