New World Development Company Limited ("New World Group", "The Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK) and its 21 member companies are awarded the 2011/12 Caring Company Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service today, in recognition of their outstanding performance in corporate social responsibility during last year. Moreover, Group companies such as NWS Holdings Limited, New World First Bus Services Limited, Hip Hing Construction Limited as well as New World Telecommunications Limited are awarded the Caring Company Logo for 10 consecutive years.

New World Group is committed to promoting better society and actively participates in various initiatives for environmental protection, youth development and cultural exchange between the Mainland and Hong Kong, with an aim to build a harmonious society and foster talent for the community.

The Group places great emphases on corporate sustainability and has recently established the Group Sustainability Steering Committee which is chaired by Adrian Cheng, Executive Director and Joint General Manager. The Committee issued its first "Sustainability Policy" and is responsible for setting the objectives and targets for long-term sustainable growth for the company, its employees, other stakeholders and the community in general.

The Group has established the New World Sports Club earlier this year and invited retired athletes to join the Group as employees under the auspices of the Hong Kong Athletes Career and Education Programme organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong.

NWS Holdings is one of the Group companies receiving the Caring Company Logo for the tenth year in the row. Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of the CSR Committee of NWS Holdings, is pleased with the results, saying that community contribution and environmental awareness are the core values of the Group and NWS Holdings is committed to upholding CSR across its different businesses. He said: "NWS Holdings and its subsidiary companies have always capitalized on its strengths and resources to benefit the community by working closely with NGOs and government bodies."

To serve our community better, New World Group also established "Green New World Volunteers", "NWS Volunteer Alliance" and "New World Volunteer Team" of the New World China Land Limited, helping the needy in the Mainland and Hong Kong. Founded in 2010, the "Green New World Volunteers" aims at encouraging staff members to focus on environmental issues and build a desirable community.

New World Group cares for youth development and is devoted to nurturing younger generation. The Group inaugurated the "New World Navigator Business Mentorship Programme" with the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong last year. During the programme, senior executives of the Group provide one-on-one coaching to their student mentees and introduce to them business operations and guide them to become a future leader. Since 2008, the Group has been a staunch supporter of "New Youth New World" Summer Internship Programme organised by Hong Kong United Youth Association. It has sponsored around 1,000 students from Hong Kong to attend internship in the Mainland.
