New World Development Received the Highest Honour Invotech Firestarters Platinum Award 2018 In recognition to the success of Eureka Nova & Youth Square
The Invotech Firestarters Award 2018 is the very first award organized by Invotech, a non-profit do-tank in promoting innovation and technology. New World Development Company Limited (the "Group", Hong Kong stock code: 00017) has been awarded with the Invotech Firestarters Platinum Award 2018 in recognition to the Group’s contribution in nurturing the youth and startups community in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area through the establishment of Eureka Nova, a disruptive incubation platform for startups, and helped to build Youth Square as a landmark for youth activities.
The award was presented by Sir David Akers-Jones, Founding President & Board Members of Invotech and Mr Nicholas Yang, GBS, JP, Secretary for Innovation and Technology during the award presentation dinner. Ms Doris Luey, Head of Social Innovation of New World Development, shares in accepting the Award, “The New World Development Group has been truly demonstrating the spirit of Collect, Connect, Collide to bring together the efforts of different communities in the ecosystem to fuel the development of innovation and creativity, entrepreneur spirit and youth community in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area”.
Established in 2017, Eureka Nova is an incubation platform to incubate startups and connect them to different networks and business opportunities. There were more than 60 startups based in Hong Kong participated in Eureka Nova’s first cohort incubation programme which 6 of them were shortlisted for intensive training. The second cohort of Eureka Nova’s incubation programme has launched in 2018 with an extended coverage to startups based in the Greater Bay Area. By engaging local and overseas stakeholders, Eureka Nova built an ecosystem to assist the incubatees and entrepreneurs to grow together with the Group and its business units.
Managed by the Group’s New World Facilities Management Company Limited on a not-for-profit model, Youth Square is a platform bringing together of local and overseas arts and culture, music and dance activities to broaden the horizons of the youths. In the past exchange camps that putting emphasis on the development of the Greater Bay Area, 300 youths had experienced an inspiring tour of technology and culture across Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Looking ahead, the Social Innovation Department of New World Development will continue to nurture the innovation and youth sector through the joint efforts of the Group and the community.
