New World Development and 20 Subsidiaries Awarded Caring Company Logos
New World Development Company Limited (the "Group", Hong Kong stock code: 00017) and its 20 subsidiary companies awarded 2017/18 Caring Company logos from The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for their outstanding corporate social responsibility performance.
Focusing on the development of the community, its staff and the environment, New World Group strives to create a harmonious community for the betterment of Hong Kong through corporate sustainability initiatives. The Group encourages its staff to take part in volunteering, and recruited staff from subsidiaries to join the Commission on Poverty’s “Life Buddies” Scheme and brought secondary students to the Group’s facilities and experiential activities in order to help them better understand the nature of different industries as well as prepare themselves for the future.
The New World Springboard sustainable community programme, funded by the New World Group Charity Foundation, offers around 500 under-resourced youth long-term professional sports training to improve their upward social mobility. In addition to the regular sports training, the programme also focuses on the students’ all-round development that it carried out initiatives like mentorship, Community Ambassador Programme and Teens Club, through which the students are inspired to unleash their potential, embrace challenges with an indomitable spirit and make contributions to society in the future.
