Ms. Huang Shaomei, Echo Appointed as Chief Executive Officer of NWD
New World Development Company Limited has announced the appointment of Ms. Huang Shaomei, Echo ("Echo") as Chief Executive Officer of the Group, while she remains as Executive Director of NWD and Chief Executive Officer of New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”). She will be responsible for overseeing the Group’s operations in both Hong Kong and Mainland China, and will report to Dr. Cheng Kar-Shun, Henry, Chairman of the Group. The Group has also appointed Mr. Ho Gilbert Chi Hang and Mr. Lau Fu-Keung, Edward as Executive Directors.
Ms. Huang will be supported by the management team with professionals in designated areas. An operation committee will be formed for each of the Group’s Hong Kong and Mainland China businesses to uphold business operations and translate management directions to executable plans. The operation committees will report directly to Ms. Huang. Mr. Ma Siu-Cheung has resigned from his position as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NWD with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
Ms. Huang has over 20 years of experience in the real estate sector. Prior to joining the Group, she held senior position with an international consulting firm. She was appointed as managing director (Southern China) of a Hong Kong-listed property developer, overseeing its property development throughout the Southern China region. She has proven experience in real estate development and management. In October 2015, Ms. Huang joined New World China Land Limited as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. She was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in February 2020 and appointed as Executive Director of NWD in May of the same year.
Since joining the Group, Ms. Huang has made outstanding contributions in promoting design and construction progress and quality, enhancing corporate branding, increasing sales and leasing returns, and strengthening corporate governance. Ms. Huang has actively expanded the Group’s high-quality land reserves by focusing on core assets in key areas of major first-tier cities, ensuring continuous performance growth and providing security for the Group’s sustainable development in the future. Ms. Huang serves as a member of the Guangdong Province Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (GPCCPPCC) and the deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Commission of the GPCCPPCC, and was awarded the title of “Guangzhou Honorary Citizen”. Over the years, she has offered influential recommendations on China’s urban development, urban planning, and large-scale infrastructure construction. Years of experience in the real estate sector and social affairs have equipped her with keen insight on socio-economic variations and the ability to navigate complex situations.
