Inauguration of New World Group's "Love‧New World" Volunteers Spreading Caring Spirit
New World Development Company Limited ("The Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK) recently held the inauguration ceremony of the "Love‧New World" Volunteers to spread caring spirit in the society. The Group will invite our business partners to join the volunteer team, to promote the loving movement.
Patrick Nip, Director of Social Welfare, HKSAR Government was invited to officiate at the ceremony with Adrian Cheng and Gary Chen, Executive Directors and Joint General Managers of the Group, and Maria Cheung, the Captain of the "Love‧New World" Volunteers. Adrian Cheng said: "The New World Group values corporate sustainability. The Group encourages over 30,000 staff members from different group companies and their family members to join our volunteering activities. Moreover, we aim to involve various stakeholders, including our business partners, to participate in an array of community as well as sports, arts and cultural activities, which we hope will eventually enhance social mobility of the under-resourced youths and create a caring and harmonious society."
Patrick Nip envisaged that the "Love‧New World" Volunteers not only provides a platform for staff members to contribute to the community, but also enhances team spirit. "With New World Group's huge network, vast experience in serving the community and human resources and strong dedication to social responsibility, I believe that the "Love‧New World" Volunteers would become a new driving force in the business sector to contribute to the betterment of the community," he added.
The "Love‧New World" Volunteers Inauguration Ceremony was held in the Group's Discovery Park - Shopping Centre. A number of groups sponsored by New World Group were invited to perform at the ceremony, including Eastern District Chinese Orchestra sponsored and Fresh Fish Traders' School, one of the beneficiaries of "New World Swimming Academy". NWS Volunteer Alliance Dancing Team also gave a performance.
The Group collected nearly 1,000 items from its staff members and collaborated with three environmental social enterprises, namely Caritas Second Hand Recycling Shop, Caritas Green Baby Garden, and St. James' Settlement Green Ladies Shop, to hold a charity sale after the ceremony. All proceeds without cost deduction was donated to the participating social enterprises.
