NWCL has been Awarded China Low-Carbon Pioneer Enterprise for Two Consecutive Years
New World China Land Limited ("NWCL" or "the Group"; Stock Code: 917.HK) is awarded China Low-Carbon Pioneer Enterpriseby 21st Century Business Herald, a renowned business newspaper in China. NWCL has won this award for two consecutive years with its excellent performance in sustainable development.
The judging panel considers that NWCL has outstanding achievements in sustainable development with taking low-carbon and sustainable development as its corporate strategy. In 2012, the Group established Sustainable Committee with a view to formulating relevant policies and objectives. By now, nine projects of the Group in Mainland China have been awarded LEED Gold CertificationorPre-certification from the US Green Building Council. Among thecommercial projects which received the LEED Gold Certification are Wuhan New World International Trade Tower and Wuhan New World Center, making the Group the first developer in Central China to receive two LEED Gold Certification. Another major project of the Group, Canton First Estate, boasts a site area of nearly 3 million sq m, was designedas an ecological community project through the corporation of a 270,000 sq m water recycling planning and a 470,000 sq m plantation optimisation and transformation, and a large-scale running water garden.
Apart from incorporating green design into itsprojects, NWCL is dedicated to introducing low-carbon lifestyle to community by establishing and promoting a wide range of eco friendly programmes and measures, such as waste seperation, farmer's market, Happy Island library, and the long term support to the Earth Hour campaign of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), etc. Moreover, the Group has initiatedan internal green office campaign, Paper-Saving Competition in 2013, in hopes of carrying out the corporate sustainable development policy in multiple dimensions.
Initiated in 2010, the China Low-Carbon Pioneer Enterprise award is jointly launched by the Institute for Urban and Environmental Studies Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and 21st Century Business Herald. The award aims at picturing the sustainable and low-carbon development in different sectors, whilst setting a benchmark and guiding the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises.
