New World China Land presents Midnight Human Library and City Theatre events to promote Art and Culture in Shenzhen, Mainland China
New World China Land Limited ("NWCL"; stock Code: 917.HK) Shenzhen presented two creative cultural events, the Midnight Human Library and City Theatre, on 24 August, delivering a sumptuous art and culture feast for the public.
The Human Library is originated from Denmark, and the Midnight Human Library introduced by NWCL is the first major transboundary human library event in Mainland China which lasted for 12 hours. On the opening day, 50 "living books" from different countries with diverse backgrounds were present at the event and shared with the readers in a unique way. The "living books" include the Hong Kong singer, Kay Tse, a blind trainer from Hong Kong, a documentary filmmaker, parents of children with autism, a climber who comes from financial sector and reached the 8,000 meter summit, a late night show host, an aircraft technician, etc.
The second major Human Library event will be held on 26 to 27 October, while there are another 10 small-scaled Human Library events will be held till October 2014. Readers can select the "living books" they are interested in and have a face to face discussion with them.
On the same day, the finale of the New World.City Theatre was held at the Costal City, Shenzhen at 6pm. "The aim of launching City Theatre event is to eliminate the stage boundary in the conventional mindsets and transform professional art into creative performances, providing an opportunity for the public to get closer to various art forms," remarked by Marco Lam, Deputy Marketing and Promotion Manager of NWCL's Signature Hill Project, Shenzhen.
Since 3 August, New World.City Theatre has been put on stage in Shenzhen in every Saturday and delivered free wonderful performances for the public. The performance groups who participated in the finale on August 24 include Y-space and Dimension+ who come from Hong Kong, and also Guangzhou Yunna Dance Company, Shenzhen Shuangshuang Symphony Orchestra and Shenzhen Autumn Message Chorus from Mainland China. The performers altogether presented an amazing music and dance performance.

The Human Library originated in a large-scale musical event held by a youth organisation,Stop The Violence, and it gradually spreads around the world. The Island library and Le Chuang Yi Community have been actively promoting The Human Library activities in Mainland China, and has successfully held more than 10 similar activities. During 30-40 minutes of reading the living books, the readers are both the listeners and the ones who share.
